Explore the Modern Corporate Office of DP World Vancouver

For the design of global shipping company DP World’s Burnaby, BC office, the goal was to create a modern, welcoming space with an instant “wow” factor, all from a blank canvas and on an expedited timeline.

Our team at allSPACES accomplished just that, transforming an empty 13,000 square-foot space into an office that captured the essence of the company’s ethos while incorporating innovative elements.

This particular project had a shorter deadline, but our team was excited to take on this challenge. As designers, we are skilled at choosing finishes and materials that fit various lead times, without sacrificing the client’s vision.

DP World wanted an office that was contemporary, functional but also enticing and welcoming to younger staff and new hires. Tour the office space and you’ll find various creative homages to the company’s global influence, from their worldwide port colours on the elevators, the graphic designs on the kitchen wall featuring their various port cities, and most prominently, a large LED-backlit map in the hallway with dots in red that mark where their ports are located.

At the reception, we utilized polished concrete floors and a calming colour scheme to greet guests. Two highlights of this room are the light-projected Canadian maple leaves on the floor, and the blue corrugated metal wall resembling their shipping containers as the backdrop for their company’s signage.

The kitchen is nestled behind floor-to-ceiling glass walls with black frames, resembling a cozy diner or restaurant. The kitchen island also utilizes the corrugated metal in the shipping container style—this time in red—as a creative way to incorporate DP World’s corporate colours and brand.

For the actual workspaces, we knew DP World wanted to create a professional atmosphere that was modern and innovative to appeal to its younger staff, while also maintaining a more traditional environment. Our team created the perfect blend of both.

In lieu of a formal meeting room, collaboration workstations bordering the office provide a “co-working space” vibe for teams to gather and enjoy the view. For those who wish to work alone, private offices are huddled in the centre of the space, with ample glass to see outside.

As a corporate shipping business with containers at local and international ports, they also needed IT support, and we coordinated with their engineers and sound experts to handle their audiovisual needs alongside design and construction.

We’re proud to have worked closely with the DP World team to create a trendy office space that exceeded their expectations in every way. Their staff feel like they can identify with their brand as they tour each room, and feel a sense of community around their global brand.
