Design Project: Modern Cafeteria and Lobby Space

For the design of this modern lobby and cafeteria in Surrey, BC’s Station Tower, our team was tasked with creating a space that was bright and clean, without being too stark.

In addition to designing this ongoing project, our team is heavily involved in assisting the construction team with tender documents, preparing for construction, and holding site visits per our design intent to ensure a smooth process.

After an initial meeting to note down programming with the client, we gathered our best consultants to make their vision a reality. Our in-house rendering team created stunning images to help the client visualize our proposal, and guide the project to completion.

The main aspects of this project were revamping the existing lower level floor, updating the elevator lobby and of course, incorporating food establishments. Working with food comes with a unique set of procedures and our team rose to the challenge, collaborating with top kitchen designers and engineers.

We incorporated wood textures throughout to add warmth while keeping the area bright and airy. Geometric tiles provide a sense of neutrality, and create a trendy, visual contrast to the rest of the space.

We utilized engineered quartz in the front counter—as it is easier to clean— and also incorporated the latest in stainless steel appliances. For lighting, our team opted for chic disc and sphere fixtures from Pablo Bola.

In lieu of a standard cafeteria, we leveraged the natural light to create a modern and inspiring space for building tenants to connect. For a sleek touch, a matte black powder-coated metal canopy hovers over the banquette seating.

Finally, the elevator corridor area needed a modern refresh, so we kept the walls white and added strip LED lighting and vinyl wood textures.

Overall, we created a stylish, welcoming and versatile space where guests would want to stay and mingle.
